New Years Resolutions… Take Twenty-Six…. ACTION!

I have been pretty terrible about the whole New Year’s Resolutions thing. Actually, I can’t remember a single year when I actually followed through with a resolution for more than a week or two.

Lose weight? Sure! Of course I will change my entire lifestyle at the drop of a hat and look into investing in a treadmill, energy bars, and Zumba DVDs…. but can you spare me some money to do all of this?

Spend more time outside? Yes, I do want to go out in the 10 degree weather or 100 degree weather and hang out… it sounds wonderful. If only I either liked the cold, or wanted to do more than sit and drink cold margaritas in the heat….

Pay less attention to my computer? hahahahaha!! This one didn’t last more than a few hours…

Blog more, and put as much time and energy as I can spare into my business? I am ashamed to say that I have never been able to follow through with this one. I made eventual, slow changes, yes… but I procrastinated more than I should have and made a whopping 5 blog posts. The majority of those posts were to try and win stuff (it was photography related stuff, at least?).

For 2012… I am making a bigger commitment to keeping my resolution to really make a difference in my business. I have already spent a lot of time customizing the look of my website, started to rethink my pricing strategy, and today I made one of the most exciting decisions yet (outside of starting the business, or getting my beloved 50mm and 70-200mm lenses). Today, I was one of the lucky purchasers of The Fix workshop with Jasmine Star. Within hours of making my purchase, I have already started to connect with photographers in the Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, and Des Moines areas… something that has taken me years of trying to do, but no one has ever given me the time of day for (except for the incredible Kevin Thompson!).

With these new connections, a renewed excitement in my work, and the loads of ideas I have going forward, this resolution should stick around a little longer. By little, I don’t mean a month or two!

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite engagement photos from 2011. Debra and Shawn were a blast to work with, and should really get in front of the camera more to show off their awesomeness.
